Why International Break is Hated?

Why International Break is Hated?
International Football reaches excitement only when it is The World Cup or Euro Cup or the qualifiers for these tournaments. Apart from that its value is nothing in people's mind. The international break for friendly on the other hand is hated by clubs, players, and most importantly fans. So the question arises is Why football the most popular game in the world is hated for its international breaks?

Below are the reasons why international break is hate by soo many people.

Reasons why International Break is Hated

5) Players getting injured

This is a key reason why fans and clubs hate International Football and International Break in general. The chances of players getting injured because they participate in friendly is immense. This hampers the chances of clubs in domestic competitions. Whenever an international break is at the horizon the managers are afraid as they might lose their key players due to injury. Just imagine Champions League Quarter Finals are around the corner and Messi or Ronaldo gets injured in an international match. The impact that it will have on both Barcelona and Real Madrid will be immense and this is one of the key reason why international football is hated.
There is no greater feeling than representing your nation but for clubs who are giving astronomical wages to players, feel they might lose money if their main man gets injured during an international match that also being a friendly.

4) Momentum Breaker

One of the most annoying things that International football does is that it breaks a teams momentum. This thing annoys the fans and the managers the most. Just imagine a relegation battling team has suddenly started to play good football and after a couple of consecutive wins the International break comes. This causes a break in momentum for the side. After having played the international football the player can lose  focus and the momentum is stopped as the team was not able to do training or play football together.
Club managers have often criticized the international break as they dont prefer the midseason break. The main reason is simple in managers eyes and that a player in form , might comeback jaded if his International Team loses. This is a big thing as even a friendly defeat for the country can hamper the confidence a player has before going.

3) No good quality of Football

Every person agrees to this point. The level of competition during International break is not even close to the competition in top 5 leagues. Given the qualifiers for tournaments are the only place where good quality is seen. These qualifiers also turn out to lack quality in Europe as top European teams are not playing against each other to qualify. Maximum of 2 top teams are in one group and that are usually the matches that brings out the best of football.
Now going to the friendly matches during international break, the story is the same or even more bad. No player seems to be aggressive in the friendly. This makes the quality of the match drop even more and helps in making people hate International break.

2) Lack of marketing

The is a key factor for not hating but not loving international break. The fact that no match previews or telecast details are out, makes people question the importance of these games. The fact that pundits talks about club football during international break also doesn't help. The marketing aspect of these games is so low that the fans either don't know when the match will happen or generally don't focus on it. The prime example of marketing can be the Europa League. Two years back this competition was not telecasted properly, nor advertised. Since then tho it's buzz has increased a bit. This is solely because teams have started to take it seriously and broadcasters now promote it more. These factors helps in making people aware and respect these competitions.
When the broadcasters will take International breaks seriously, then the excitement for International matches will increase.

1) Too much stress for Players

This is a point that most people hate to accept. The fact that a player plays 50+ domestic games and then also has to play during international break can stress out a player. These footballers can do much better if they get rest during the course of the season.
This point is looking at a human level rather  the footballing level. The domestic and international management must give rest to players when then can, rather than making them play in pain just for the money that they will bring.
It is seen in the Premier League that due to these international breaks the fixture list piles up during Christmas period. It is the most stressful time of the season and International break is one of the reasons for it.

At  the end the International break might be hated by people, but their is no denying that if everyone starts taking it seriously, people might end up loving and enjoying it.
