FA Cup and Top 6

The FA cup is the most prestigious domestic cup for English teams. It has surely lost a bit of value due to the League and Champions League , in the last few seasons. This season however it feels like it is very important for all the top 6 to win  this trophy. Let's look at why the FA cup is important to the top 6 this season one by one.

6) Manchester City

The importance of this trophy for City is huge in few aspects. They are already running away with the league,find themselves in the carabao cup final and after PSG's loss to madrid in Champions League they look to be the undisputed favourites to win the Champions League. If City wins the carabao cup, champions league and the league, then they would become the 2nd English team to win a treble. But if they also win the Fa Cup they will be the first team to win a Quadruple. This is a big reason, why Manchester City will try to win the Fa Cup as well. Let's wait and watch if City will make history or not.

5) Manchester United

Manchester United are having a good season , even if people don't want to believe it. They finished sixth last season in the league and are currently 2nd in the league. If we take out City's phenomenal season, then it is pretty obvious United are doing good enough job this season. To make people remember that they had a good season they need to win Champions League or the FA cup or both of the cups. While, Champions League is far fetched for Manchester United , the FA cup is a realistic trophy they can win. For Jose even it will be big. If Arsenal wins the carabao cup against City , then they will need to win the FA cup to be the second english team to win a treble. If United can win this trophy then Jose and all united supporters will have broken CIty's dream of winning a treble this season. More importantly United win consider it to be a progress if they win the FA cup.

4)Liverpool

Liverpool has won one league cup in the last 13 years. They had to win it, to give Liverpool fan's some sort of joy. For all good Klopp has done in last 2 and a half year, he needs to cement it by winning the FA cup at least. Since Liverpool got out in the 4th round of the FA cup, they can only think of Champions League, which realistically will be tough for them. A FA cup would have brought pride and as well as shown progress if they had won it. Next season Liverpool might start the season with a smile if they perform good in Champions League and finish the top 4 this season, but they would be desperate to end title drought in the Klopp era.

3) Chelsea

Why would FA Cup be important to the current League winner ? Simply because they don't look good this season. Chelsea has been very inconsistent this season. Currently sitting on 4th with just 1 point ahead of Spur's at 5th. They are fighting for a champions league place for next season. Moreover they have a daunting task of facing Barcelona in the round of 16 of champions league. If they don't finish the top 4 then FA cup might easy the blow abit, but if they do finish in the top 4 then the FA cup will be looked as a positive sign in a somewhat crisis of a season. Antonio Conte looks as if won't be Chelsea's manager next season. If he wins the FA cup and leaves then he will surely look at his performance at Chelsea with pride.

2) Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham has a similar kindly of situation , like that of Liverpool. It has been exactly 10 years since they won a cup. Everyone loves what Pochettino has done at the club, but they have nothing in the trophy cabinet to show for it. They have finished good in the league for the past two seasons. Most Spur's fans highlight of the season will be that they defeated Real Madrid this season, if they don't win the FA cup. They might do good in the Champions League this season after getting a draw in Turin against Juventus, but at the end even if they reach the final and not win it what will be the use of it. The FA cup is a very realistic target for Spur's , if they win it. Winning the FA cup will not only mean progress but also make all the players playing for Spurs the feeling of winning a trophy. It is also important because every team is after Tottenham's players. They need to win so that the players feel they are apart of something very very special.

1) Arsenal

Oh Arsenal, what has happened to them. Even after signing Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan they are the least feared top six. They are currently 6th in the table, 8 points behind Chelsea. Top 4 is not looking possible for them. The only way they can get to the Champions League is by winning the Europa League. Manchester United did it last year as well, but the difference was United did not have to compete with very big clubs. Arsenal are in Europa League Knockout with Atletico Madrid , Dortmund, Milan, Lyon to name a few. They will have a very slim chance of qualifying for the champions league for next season. They are in the final of carabao cup but it is against Manchester City and them winning it will be tough. The FA cup as always acted as a comfort zone for Arsenal and it will this time also for the defending champions Arsenal. If they miss out of the top 4 and win both the domestic cup at least the fans will be a bit happy.

At the end i would say, i feel this is in a long time the top 6 are all going to have an eye on the FA cup. It is only good for the competition. If all the top 6 takes it seriously again, then winning it will be considered a big achievement.
